Detox Is Your True Love
I just couldn’t resist with the title…it being Valentines Day and all! Alma, I promise your my true love! hahaha! He’s such a great sport when it comes to my passion in health.
Have you really stopped to think about all that your body has to purge daily? It’s fascinating to know that several organs work continuously to remove waste and toxins.
Liver: Filters blood and metabolizes chemicals
Kidneys: filter waste into urine
Colon/Bowels: eliminates harmful toxins and waste products
Lungs: expel gaseous toxins - CO2
Skin: releases toxin through sweat
I freakin love our bodies! And the best way to show some love to our fabulous selves is self care!
I’m going to go through some simple ways to assist the body in detoxing. Because lets face it, the toxic load is so much to take on by it self! By incorporating simple tools to daily routine, the toxic burden decreases on our organs. I will cover some, not all detox tools. Find what works for you and stick with it for a few months!
Spill the Tea
Tea has been around for…well forever. Lol. Herbal remedies are the greatest gift mother earth has given mankind. And growing up, I don’t think I was ever fully immersed into tea culture. Wow. I tell you what, wow. I am still a novice when it comes to herbal remedies, but I can now reach for my medicinal cabinet and choose from 30 + tea bags. I have wonderful books that I can consult to what would help with specific ailments.
When you think of the major organs and detox, teas aid so many of those listed above! Here’s a checklist of what one tea can support…out of the 5, you can help all 5! Bet you didn’t guess that. There are teas that induce fever, there are teas that stimulate the bowel, liver and kidneys. There are even herbal teas that decongest mucous in the lungs.
Some of the easiest to begin with on the shelf is peppermint, red raspberry, pau d’arco, chamomile, and dandelion. Now there are so many more that can assist in more areas of detox. These are just very forgiving herbs, I think created for beginners lol so start there! Then increase in learning to work with herbs that are slightly more potent!
Sauna Is Not a Trend
The benefits of using sauna therapy regularly are huge! When you sweat, obviously your pushing out toxins. It’s also helping the bowels, the muscles and joints, the cardiovascular system and helping metal health too! I personally investing in my own home sauna because I wanted my entire family to benefit from this tool. My sweet family is so patient with me! In the moment, they’re like “really mom, I have to do what?” then they feel better after and thank me. haha
Be aware that longer in the sauna is not better. There are many studies that 20 minutes at 120 degrees per day has great benefits! And with younger children, pregnant, or those that are highly toxic…please be careful. I remember one sauna session I had with a friend. I was used to going for longer periods of time and she was not. She almost passed out after! If your getting nauseous or dizzy (signs that you are dumping more toxins than your system can handle) get out immediately. Drink peppermint tea and stay hydrated. Too much is too much.
The goal with detoxing is you want your body to dump toxins at a rate that isn’t too overbearing. If you find you continue to be nauseous while doing sauna sessions then your bowels are NOT doing their job and you need to focus on bowel movement…which leads to my next favorite tool!!
Coffee Enemas - Don’t Make It Weird
While working in my farm store, one of my favorite conversations was with an older male customer. I had known him from buying raw milk for quite a while. And he saw one of my social media posts about coffee enemas and was so hesitant to ask me questions. I was like, dude, don’t be weird. Lol. This is my favorite this to share because main stream health has smothered out this ancient tool. Why? I don’t know…maybe cuz western med can’t make any money off such a simple tool everyone can do at home. Along with other reasons.
When I first began my coffee enemas, I googled and tried to find as much info as possible. Nothing but negative feedback. No surprise there! I will shout from the roofs…this is such a fantastic way to detox your colon!!! I will even upload some dreaded pictures (I think they’re awesome!) of parasites that I flushed from being consistent in my coffee enemas.
Feb 3, 2025. I wanted to document each time I found a parasite after an enema. Glad I did! I would have forgotten!!
February 13, 2025 (one year ago) Showed a photo with measurement to show how long these suckers were.
I have about 30 photos taken over a six month span of parasites I expelled from my colon. They were primarily round worms that I could visibly see…as you can tell from the photos they’re kinda large so easy to find floating! But I guarantee there were more of these awful invaders. Parasites are just one of the may reasons coffee enemas can be so beneficial! Where you have these foreign invaders in your colon, they live rent free. Yet your body suffers. They rob you of needed nutrients and minerals. Oh and everyone has parasites. No one is exempt. Unless you go 2-4 parasite cleanses yearly…there is a certainty you are housing free-loaders. Parasites are in/on food. You can be infected if you’ve eaten out. Touched a door knob. Been around animals. Sat in the grass. Guys, it’s part of life. We do not live in a Petri dish. We can’t control everything. But we can do periodic cleanses (which have been done for centuries). Oh and guess what…western med says they’re not needed or helpful. Insert HUGE eye roll.
For me personally, my body struggled with constipation and irregular bowel movements. And once I went through pregnancy (x’s 5) it worsened. My electrolytes, hormones and minerals were off. Therefore my intestines suffered. Coffee enemas are not to replace the peristaltic movement (wave like contractions of the colon). But listen. If your colon ISN’T moving then all that fecal matter builds up. Creating a perfect environment for pests and bacteria to thrive. This flush is giving your digestive tract a break from years of heavy loads.
Oh and the digestive tract isn’t the only beneficiary! Your liver loves the stimulation and ability to purge during this practice!
Tips for success:
If you prone constipation, do a pre-enema flush. This is with filtered body temp water. Lay on your right side and hold in until you need to release.
This helps with compacted fecal matter that needs to come out anyway!
Now with coffee. This is crucial! Organic and Mold free only. Non-negotiable. You don’t want to add more crap to your crap.
Be consistent in when you take time to add this to your routine and give yourself plenty of time especially in the beginning. Don’t rush the process and make it relaxing! I put beeswax candles in the bathroom and turned on calming music. I’m not going to walk you through the steps, but you can find more info in my other blog specifically about coffee enemas!
I Like to Move It, Move It!
I’m going to be brief on this one because one of my emails down the road is going to be dedicated to exercise! It’s something I’ve seen time and time again. Individuals who mistake pushing their body to break point and then calling it exercise and saying it helps. No, I’m sorry but no.
Movement. Our bodies need to move to help flush out toxins that are built up. Socially it has been pushed into our psyche that killing ourselves is how to get gains physically. I whole heartedly (happy v-day) disagree. Our bodies will tighten up and then we have injury.
I know that there are points to push and times to have low-key workouts. It’s all about compassion and balance. So…I'm going to leave it at we need movement to help detox! And watch for future my blog where I dive into this convoluted topic.
Juicing Drains The Lymphatic System
Juicing can get a bad rap sometimes. I’ve heard both sides of it. The veggies and fruits don’t have the pulp aka fiber so it spikes blood sugar…blah blah blah. I believe it. Not arguing. I do see it as a tool and a very good one too. Do I recommend only drinking juice. No. I add it to my tool belt and say if it calls to you then it is probably what your body needs. Be aware and be mindful of what your body is telling you. I know I have done a carrot juice fast for 3 days straight and I felt awful. Lol! I dumped so much toxic waste through my lymph that is was pretty sick.
Be mindful of your body and your limits. If you are getting so sick you cannot function then there is your sign to implement other detox tools to assist the body! At the time, I didn’t have coffee enemas or sauna to add with my carrot detox. I feel like I was my own Guinea Pig so I can help all of you NOT do what I did! haha! Your welcome.
I now juice in addition to my whole food eating. I don’t enjoy drinking every meal, nor do I think we would have teeth if that was the way our bodies were created to consume our nutrients! So I supplement or add to my meals and its a great combination.
Fasting; Fast Like a Girl - Fast Like a Man
Men and women are not the same. Men’s bodies are programed to reset every 24 hours. Women’s bodies reset every 28-35 days. Circadian and Infradian. Sun and Moon. When I learned this I was angry. Why was this not taught to me as a young woman?? My body isn’t meant to work the same as a man. We are different for specific reasons! I’m grateful to know this now and to honor my cycle as well as my husbands.
When I fast to detox I make sure I know where I’m sitting with my time of the month. My period dictates a lot of my decisions. Did you know the best time for extended fasts was during your bleed? Neither did it! But since learning, the past few years have been amazing. I work with me body clock rather than against it. It’s my own super power!
By fasting with the natural cycles of the body, we accomplish more.
Detoxing can be hard especially if the toxic load is high. When you fast at appropriate times and at appropriate lengths, you thrive! Two books for woman I would highly recommend is Fast Like A Girl, by Mindy Pelz and In The Flo by Alisa Vitti. Life changing! For men, the sky is the limit! So many great books about intermittent fasts and prolonged fasts that help your body achieve autophagy. Fast This Way by Dave Asprey was a great one. I don’t think he fully understands women’s bodies so I recommend that one for men.
In Conclusion…
Detox has so many forms and layers. Start where you can. Oh and remember WHOLE FOODS are part of detox as well! When you continue to bring in the wellness while detoxing you are nutritionally overdosing! Yay! Now tell me…did I need to go in depth more somewhere? I feel like I could write a novel in each of the categories I shared. What would you like to hear more about? I write these for you, so please tell me what you’d like to have more of!
xoxo-
Tasha
